The 19 Penal-Tees
Choke down to the very bottom of the grip during your shots.
As you play the hole, you must also caddy for an opponent. Fetch their clubs, wipe them down, then return them after use.
Your opponent(s) get one free opportunity to force you to replay a perfectly good shot. This can be used against a player only once per hole, so choose wisely.
No backswing allowed. Raise your club straight up and start your swing from the top.
One of your opponents can throw your ball, in any direction, including into bunkers, as long as it remains playable. This can be used against a player only once per hole, so choose wisely.
Scoot on up to the ladies box and try again. Re-tee using a 9-iron and hit a second tee shot. If you already hit from the reds, go back to the furthest tees and hit from there.
You must hit first and without any distance assistance. No range finders, apps, sprinkler heads, or other aids permitted.
A chance for redemption. Hit another tee shot, but off the deck, without a tee.
Your opponent will choose your clubs for you. The putter can only be chosen for use while on the green.
You must pause at the top of your backswing and count to 3 Mississippis before finishing your swing.
You must hit your ball using a Happy Gilmore-style swing. Careful, it is harder than it looks. Walk, do not run up to the ball if needed.
Use your driver in place of your putter.
An opponent may move your ball up to 2 club lengths, to a worse lie of their choosing. Bunkers and obstructions are permitted, but the ball must remain playable.
You must deliberately line up your stance to the left or right of the pin. This will force you to shoot a draw or fade, including while putting.
You must take 3 full-power practice swings before your shots.
Your opponent(s) can try to distract you during your shots. Shouting, clapping, laughing, and joking are fair game. Do not get reckless.
Use only a pitching wedge for the rest of the hole, including in the bunkers and on the green.
Your opponent chooses which Penal-Tee you must do for the hole. They cannot choose the 19th Hole.
Buy your opponent(s) a drink. Then draw a new Penal-Tee.
Game mode variants
Standard rules apply. Each player tees off like normal. Miss the fairway, draw a Penal-Tee and play the punishment for the rest of the hole.
If any player in the group misses the fairway, one Penal-Tee is drawn for the entire group, and all players play the punishment together.
When all players shots are in the fairway, the player closest to the pin is exempt, and the other player(s) must draw a Penal-Tee.
When skill levels are mismatched, the higher-skilled player(s) must draw a Penal-Tee every hole regardless. The lower-skilled player(s) continue to play the game as normal. If a higher-skilled player still wins, they really are the GOAT.
